Chelan County Fire District 1 is governed by a three-seat publicly elected commission. Each commissioner is elected for a term of six (6) years.
The Commission meets at 2:00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month. Meetings rotate between Station 10 (136 S. Chelan Avenue), Station 11 (206 Easy Street), and Station 17 (3760 W. Malaga Road, Malaga). An agenda is posted to the website 24-hours prior each meeting.
Station 10 – Februrary, June, October
Station 11 – January, March, May, July, September, November

Mike Compton, Chairman Commissioner
A lifetime resident of Wenatchee, Commissioner Compton began his service with Chelan County Fire District 1 in 1972 as a Volunteer Firefighter. During his time as a Volunteer, he served as President of the Volunteer Association for several years. He was elected to the position of Commissioner in November of 1993. Commissioner Compton is a self-employed Orchardist, is married, has two sons, and one grandchild.
A lifetime resident of Chelan County, Commissioner Troxel, has resided in Malaga for 65 years. He began his involvement with fire fighting accompanying his volunteer dad to fires in 1955. He was with Fire District 2 until it merged with District 1, serving several years as Fire Chief. He continued with fire fighting until 2007, with Chelan County District 1, Washington State DNR, and the US Forest Service. While with Chelan One, he served as Volunteer Association President and was Volunteer of the year. He was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Commissioner Fritz in 2012. He retired from Chelan PUD as Technician Supervisor after 37 years service. He and wife Carol have 5 children, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grand children.
Phil Dormaier, Commissioner
A lifetime resident of Wenatchee, Commissioner Dormaier was elected to the position of Commissioner in November of 2003. Prior to his role as Commissioner, he served as Volunteer Firefighter since 1978. During that time, he served as Secretary/Treasurer to the Volunteer Association and President of the Chelan/Douglas County Firefighters Association. Commissioner Dormaier is a Certified Public Accountant and a third generation fruit grower. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1983 with a B.A. in Business Administration with a major in Accounting. During his time at UW he made two Rose Bowl appearances as an outside linebacker for Coach Don James. He is married and has one son.
