10/16/2009 Fire Station 17 in Malaga is now staffed 24 hours a day! Chelan County Fire District 1 and Alcoa Wenatchee Works entered into a shared funding agreement that allowed the Fire District to station three full-time firefighters in Malaga which reduces response times and enhances the services we provide to the south end of your District. With this agreement in place, we hired 3 new firefighters; congratulations to Brandon Kunz, Brandon Miller, and Matt Rise. We also had 2 recent promotions to the rank of Lieutenant; congratulations Russ Hamilton and Jon Brown. Each of these young men will be on probation for 1 year during which time they will be honing their skills and learning their new roles within the District’s operations.

07/22/2007 Interagency Severity Engine Chelan County Fire District 1 (CCFD 1) and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) are working together to provide additional wildland fire response capability to the area. These two agencies are combining resources to better serve the citizens. The funding provided by the BLM will pay for two firefighters and a wildland engine to be staffed seven days a week. This funding is based on the severity of the season and is provided in two week segments. CCFD 1 will provide the firefighters, equipment and oversight to be ready for dispatch when needed. This resource will be conducting routine maintenance and planning functions when not assigned to an incident. If you have questions or comments about this program please contact Mike Burnett.
